Alex Niespodzany

March 27, 1925 — June 12, 2014

Alex L. Niespodzany, age 89, of Seymour, died on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Alpha Senior Concepts in Howard, after a long battle with dementia.
Alex was born March 27, 1925 in the Town of Maple Grove in Shawano County, son of the late Michael and Frances (Falkowski) Niespodzany. Alex married Leona Holewinski on September 29, 1951 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Navarino.
During his life he worked at Laney Cheese in Laney, Morning Glory in Seymour, Foremost in Appleton, North Osborn Cheese in Seymour and as a supervisor at Beatrice Cheese in Seymour. Alex also worked part-time at Keuhne's Farm Equipment in Seymour for many years repairing machinery, and set pins at the Seymour Bowling Alley in the 1950's.
Alex spent 38 devoted years as the caretaker of St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Seymour. Every member of the family was involved in some aspect with this job through those years. He was also on the cemetery board for over 20 years. Alex enjoyed gardening and was known to his family as "Mr. Fix-it."
Survivors include his children: James (Nancy) Niespodzany, Seymour; Nancy Taylor, Marietta, GA; Sandy Skinkis-Niespodzany, Seymour; Eugene Niespodzany, Seymour; eight grandchildren: Jaime (Keith) Schumacher, Black Creek; Morgan (Jason) Bonnin, Seymour; Jennifer (Steven) Jessup, Apex, NC; Chris Skinkis, Ottumwa, IA; Eric Niespodzany, Cincinnati, OH; Justine (Joshua) Frewerd, Appleton; Lauren (Jared) Smith, Kennesaw, GA; Michael Skinkis, Fox Point; three great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; two sisters: Ceil Engels, Green Bay and Alvina Rosek, Denmark; brother and sister-in-law, Tony (Betty) Niespodzany, De Pere; one sister-in-law, Catherine Niespodzany, Clintonville. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, on July 27, 2010; his parents; two brothers and one sister-in-law: John Niespodzany, Stanley (Frances) Niespodzany; two brothers-in-law: Clarence Engels, George Rosek; a nephew, Dennis Niespodzany. Also, the family dogs: Tootsie, Mitzi and Angie.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and the visitation will continue on Monday, June 16, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Seymour from 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. with Fr.
