ALICE?
Who the heck is Alice?!?
Alice Irene (Reinke) Bluma, 98, of Seymour passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born on June 24, 1924, daughter of the late William and Maggie (Peterson) Reinke.
Alice was united in marriage to Harry Bluma on June 12, 1948 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Hofa Park. They celebrated 42 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on December 6, 1990.
She was a lifelong resident of Seymour, and long-time member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Alice was a vivacious and energetic woman her entire life whose talents spanned a wide range of interests.
She loved to sing. Along with her beautiful voice, she had a passion for music and played multiple instruments, including the violin, piano, accordion, and guitar.
She was a wonderful seamstress in her day and prior to her marriage, had worked as a professional tailor. She also loved to knit and crochet and took great pride in gifting all of her children and grandchildren one of her cherished afghans or baby blankets.
She was an avid bowler. She began bowling in her teens, and bowled her final tournament with her son, Joey, at the age of 94.
Alice also loved to play cards and watch the Brewers. She would never say no to a trip to the casino.
Though she would rarely turn down an old fashioned, special occasions called for a nip of B & B!
But the most important thing to Alice was family.
Alice is survived by her children: Barbara (Butch) Van Boxtel, Susan (Dick Boyd) Bluma, Mary Jo (Keith) Buchberger, Patti (Cy) Letter, Tom (Judy) Bluma, Michael (Carol) Bluma, Robert (Karen) Bluma, Laurie (Tim) Jaskolski, Joey (Dori) Bluma, Daniel (Virginia) Bluma, Greg (Mary) Bluma; son-in-law, Al Vruwink; 39 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Nobert Bluma.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Krystal Vruwink; grandchildren: Danielle Bluma, Anthony Mack, Anne Young; great-granddaughter, Lydia Bluma.
Brothers Mel Reinke, Ervin Reinke, Gladys Buck, Myrtle Reis, Sylvia Nelson, Bill Reinke, Bob Reinke, Elmer Reinke.
In-laws: Francis Gorecki, Regina Kryger, Jack Bluma.
And we all know...
"We'll never get used to not living next door to Alice."
A special thanks to Shepherd's Inn, St. Mary's 5th Floor Nursing Staff, and Unity Hospice who cared for Alice and all their compassionate care.
