GOFFARD, ALVIN J.
Seymour
Alvin J. Goffard, age 92, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He was born August 3, 1918 on the family farm in West DePere. The fourth of nine children born to the late Isaac and Clara (Boerschinger) Goffard. The last year he resided with Janice and Eric at their home in Allouez.
On June 24, 1941 he was united in marriage to Eleanor Vercauteren at St. Boniface Church in DePere. She preceded him in death on February 16, 1998, after 56 years of marriage.
Alvin and Eleanore farmed in the Town of Hobart until 1959 when they moved to Seymour. Al worked at Brick Implement as a farm mechanic until 1969.
Alvin and Eleanore enjoyed going to their cottage at Lakewood where they fished and rode in the pontoon boat. He liked doing woodworking projects. Alvin was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour.
He is survived by his daughter, Janice (Eric) Resler, Allouez; sister and brother-in-law: Dottie (Bob) Lemmen; in-laws: Pat Goffard, Don Fischer and Dorothy Goffard; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marcella Vande Hei, Rosemary (Alvin) Vande Hei, Carol (Don) Van Den Elzen, Emmet Mullen and Del Vercauteren.
Alvin was preceded in death by Eleanore in 1998. Other family members:, Wilbert (Lauretta) Goffard, Bernice (Norb) Severson, Evelyn (Norbert) Rentmeester, Alvina (Roy) Van Lannen, Bob Goffard, Mildred Fischer and Ervin Goffard. Eleanore's sister, Lucille Mullen and brother, Ray (Doris)Vercauteren.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 4 PM until 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church, Seymour from 9:30 AM until funeral services at 11 AM with Father Bob Kabat officiating. Thanks also to all the wonderful Seymour neighbors that were so good to Dad and visited on the front porch with him. To all the kids who called him "Grandpa Al".
