Arleen Josephine Dhuey (Fameree) of Seymour, formerly of Casco, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Friday, June 18, 2021.
The oldest of three children, Arleen was born in Casco, Wisconsin on June 7, 1926, to the late Ella (Delwiche) and Nora Fameree. The oldest of three children, Arleen enjoyed tap dancing with her sister and dressing up in costumes to put on shows as a little girl.
Through a friend, Arleen was introduced to Clifford Dhuey and on August 18, 1948, they were united in marriage. Arleen and Cliff were blessed with 57 years of marriage and together had three children - Mary, Mike and Patti. For several decades, they owned Dhuey's Red Owl in Casco before selling it in 1976. Arleen dedicated her life to her family and her community - she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.
Always generous with her time, Arleen was very active in the Casco community. She served on the Board of Casco Housing for years and was instrumental in getting the low-income Casco Housing built in the 1970s. As a hard worker, she spent several years bartending at the Coach Inn in Kewaunee, as well as at the Slovan Country Inn in Slovan. She was honored to have been given the Citizen of the Year award in the Casco community - it was a true testament to the kind of person she was and the dedication she showed to her friends and neighbors. As a woman of faith, Arleen was also active at Holy Trinity Church and School in Casco, the Rosary Society, and a proud member of the Casco Auxiliary.
Arleen loved walking, baking, coffee with friends, volunteering her time, traveling with her husband (which included many winters in Destin, FL), entertaining for family holidays (especially Christmas) and being present with her children and grandchildren. Her smile and contagious laughter would also be regularly seen and heard while helping out her daughter and son-in-law at the Seymour Hotel in Seymour.
Arleen is survived by her three children, Mary Jo (Arlie) Albrecht, Milwaukee; Michael (Holly) Dhuey, Green Bay; Patti (Corky) Dethardt, Seymour; six grandchildren, Sara (John) French, Milwaukee; Jacob (Lauren) Albrecht, Savage, MN.; Elizabeth (Drew) Zimmerman, Prior Lake, MN.; Kati (Brandon) Stahmann, Kimberly; Alex (Shelby) Dhuey, Athelstane; and Jon (Allison) Dethardt, Seymour; 14 great-grandchildren, Maggie, Joe, Julia, Gage, Matthew, Ella, William, Marin, Elena, Jackson, Molly, Liam, Addison and Laney; and two siblings, Dorothy Majeski and Russell (Joan) Fameree.
Arleen was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff; her parents, Ella and Nora Fameree; and her brother-in-law, Chester Majeski.
Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 915 Ivory Street, Seymour on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11 am with Fr. Sengole Dass, O.
