Arnold Volkman, age 93, passed away on Monday evening, September 27, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. He was born September 27, 1917, son of the late Edward and Saloma (Tiedt) Volkman in the Town of Center. Arnold was united in marriage to Marjorie Ahrens on June 30, 1945 in Appleton.
Arnold grew up and farmed in the Town of Center for 48 years before his retirement. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Black Creek. Arnold served as a supervisor and an inspector for the Town of Center. He served on the Center Valley Co -op, Outagamie County Drainage Board and the Farm Progress Days. He and Marjorie spent 17 years wintering in Casa Grande, AZ.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Marjorie and their children: Wayne (Patricia) Volkman, Karen (John) Mueller, Jeffrey (Betty) Volkman, Gregory (Barbara) Volkman, Dale (Karen) Volkman, Brian Volkman; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Gehrke and Vera Zuberbier; two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Waldemar and Carl Volkman; one brother-in-law, one niece and three sisters-in-law.
Friends may call Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 5 PM to 8 PM and on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Black Creek from 9 AM until services at 11 AM with Pastor Steve Schlicht and Pastor John Brandt officiating.
