Arthur "Jim" Zuiches, age 88, of Navarino passed away Friday, October 22, 2010 at ManorCare Nursing Home in Shawano. He was born December 4, 1921 in Little Suamico to the late Arthur and Marie (Werner) Zuiches.
On November 18, 1950 he married Laverna "Pat" Milis at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Kimberly. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Navarino.
Jim served in the US Army during WWII. Following service he was a Kirby salesman on the Island of Kauai (Hawaiian Islands) and later in Dodge County. In 1986 he retired from Kimberly-Clark (Lakeview Mill) in Neenah.
Jim was an avid pigeoneer all his life. His birds occupied much of his free time as he won several awards, trophies, and races with his pigeons.
In addition to his wife Pat, he is survived by 4 daughters: Cathy (Rick) Rohloff, Appleton, Patricia (Marc) Levinson, Algonquin, IL, Joni (John Jones) Willard, Oregon, IL, and Tina (Michael) Jung, Green Bay; 6 sons: Steven (Eteca) Zuiches, Weyauwega, WI, James (Wendy) Zuiches, Fall River, WI, Jon Zuiches, Shiocton, Michael (Rene) Zuiches, Black Creek, Daniel (Amy) Zuiches, Bonduel, and Paul Zuiches, Shawano.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; a sister Kate Beckman; sisters-in-law Betty Zuiches and Joann Van Cuyk; many nieces and nephews; former daughters-in-law: Cindy, Lisa, and Jeanne; and former son-in-law Paul.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother William; sisters Gladys Stern and Beatrice Kluth; brothers-in-law Walter Stern, Glenn Kluth, Charles Milis, and Francis Beckman; mother and father-in-law Kate and Adolph Milis; and 2 sons-in-law: Tony Walia and John Willard.
Friends may call at Ascension Lutheran Church on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 from 9 AM until services at 11 AM with Pastor Jon Paquette officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
