Audrey J Hooyman-Blake, of Black Creek, passed away peacefully at Cherry Meadows Hospice House in Appleton, WI on March 16, 2025. She was born on November 20, 1935 to the late Leo and Lorena (Holz) Peters and lived in Black Creek, WI her whole life. She lived a wonderful 89 years.
Audrey graduated from Shiocton in the Class of 1954. Audrey was united in marriage to Eugene Hooyman on August 8, 1959 with 40 years together. Eugene passed on September 4, 1999. Audrey was then united in marriage to Eugene Blake on July 25, 2006 and had 18 years together. Audrey worked for the telephone company in her younger years until she started her family. She was then a homemaker to raise her family. Family was very important to her and loved getting together for each holiday. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and supported them all by going to sporting games, concerts, and dance recitals to name a few. Audrey loved her garden, houseplants, flowers and loved to sew. She played cards with a group of friends each month. Her favorite color was purple.
Audrey was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Black Creek, WI where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She belonged to the Women's Guild, Church Choir, Church Council, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher for over 70 years, Youth Group Leader and played for the couples dartball team for many years and won many "Most Home Runs" trophies. She was the treasurer of her Class of 1954 reunions. She was a member of National Mutual Benefit Insurance and volunteered many hours. She was a den leader for her sons when they were younger. She wrote many scripts for the Mock Weddings they performed in the 70's and 80's.
Audrey is survived by her current husband, Eugene Blake; her 5 children: Randall Hooyman, Julie (Duane) Rose, Mark Hooyman, Lynn (Richard) Seymour, and Connie (John) Wheeler; her 17 grandchildren: Jennifer Hooyman, Christopher Vegoe, David (Samantha) Hooyman, Nichole Stebane, Jessica Koleske, Tasia Rose (Dipanker Gogoi), Taner (Kayla) Rose, Tiara (Spencer) Rubin, Kaytlin, Kelcie, Keegan (Rachel) and Karleigh Hooyman, Jenna (Jordan) Jennerjohn, Emily (Shawn) Retzlaff, Cailey, Hollie and Jaiden Wheeler; her 12 great-grandchildren: Desiree, Baylee, Megan and Allison Hooyman, Theo Gogoi, Huxley Rose, Aspen Jahnke, Caylix and Rylen Wernet, Lila and Ava Hooyman, and Mason Retzlaff. Further survived by her step-children: Brenda (Rob) VandenLangenberg, Al (Rhonda) Blake, Jolene Blake, Debra Blake (Matthew Heckenliable), and Keith (Lea) Blake; her step-grandchildren: Reed (Anna) Blake, Trent Blake, Evan and Briana VandenLangenberg, Amanda (Travis) Kahl, Elizabeth (Andrew) Hammond, Colton and Caden Blake; her step-great-grandchildren: Alex Samson, Joseph, Teresa, and Margaret Kahl, and Mackenzie Hammond.
She is further survived by a sister, Verla Pingel; and brother, Milton Peters; sisters-in-law: RoseAnn (Donald) Smith, Roberta Lorenz and Kathy Theisen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and many wonderful friends.
In addition to her parents, Leo and Lorena Peters; and her in-laws, Earl and Elizabeth Hooyman; Audrey was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Hooyman; an infant brother, Gerald; great-grandson, Bow Rose; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral services for Audrey will be held at St. John's United Church of Christ, Black Creek on March 22, 2025 with visitation from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Moira Finley officiating. Burial will take place at the St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery in Black Creek.
