Barbara Cornelius

March 9, 1949 — November 30, 2011

As the sun rose in the eastern sky on wonderful Wednesday morning, November 30, 2011 it also rose on the life of Barbara Cornelius, age 62. Barb was born March 9, 1949 in Clintonville to her parents, Jerome and Gladys (Doehling) Henn, who preceded her in death.

Barb is survived by her loving husband and best friend Eugene "Gene" Cornelius; 2 sons: Brian Peebles and Ronnie Peebles; 4 step-children: April (Rick) Backos, Blackie (Shannon) Cornelius, Whitey and Willy Cornelius. Also survived by 3 sisters: Beverlee (Ronald) Clauson, Linda (Jim) Portnoy, and Leisa (Andy) Wells; and 11 grandchildren.

To know Barb and share time with her was truly to know life. The true definition of unique or one of a kind was Barb. She was loving, kind, giving, and true to her values and beliefs. She did not always go with the status quo; rather she spoke up, acted and supported the people and causes she deemed worthy of commitment. If she called someone "her friend" she meant it and that person was granted her loyalty, respect, and honesty.

She was realistic about death and was true to herself to the final end; she did it her way.

In celebration of Barb's 62 years of life, please wear red to the visitation and funeral. At the cemetery as you look around and up, you feel the inner peace as the 62 red balloons rise above the cemetery. Remember all the good times you have shared.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 4 to 8 PM. Visitation will continue at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oneida, on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 9:30 AM until services at 11 AM with Fr. Timothy Shillcox and Deacon Bobby Doxtator officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com

In memory of Barb she has requested the purchase of the book "Heaven Is For Real" by Todd Burpo, and please share it with others.

Thanks go out to Unity Hospice staff and especially to Theresa L. for all the extra special care, time, and comfort she gave back.
