Bernard Schmit

April 2, 1918 — December 19, 2011

Bernard J. "Bud" Schmit, age 93, of Seymour passed away Monday evening, December 19, 2011 at home. He was born on April 2, 1918 son of the late Henry and Theresa (Hartl) Schmit. On October 14, 1948 he was united in marriage to Mary Margaret Buchinger. He was born, farmed and passed away on the family homestead. He was a member of St. Sebastian Church in Isaar.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and in his later years enjoyed gardening, bird watching and berry picking. Bud was an innovative farmer and breeder of cattle. He was a great historian and story teller. Bud loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren

Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret Schmit; children: Mike (Karen) Schmit, Frances Rudnick, Marie (Bruce) Raymakers, Margie (Roy) Muck; grandchildren: Cheri, Jackie (Travis), Benjamin (Ronda), Philip, Jessica, Jeremiah, Joshua (Chelsea), Rebecca (Pat), Doug (Jeanna), Ken (Amber), Debbie (Andy), Greg (Pamela), Amanda (Brandon), Jason, Jennifer, Kristine; 21 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Schmit

Preceded in death by his 2 grandchildren, Keith and Jill; sisters: infant Mary, Laura (Roy) Ward, Bernice (George) Cadle, Helen (John) Buchinger; Brothers, Ed (Lenore) Schmit, Leo (Toots) Schmit, Ray (Sue) Schmit, Elmer Schmit

Friends may call at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Isaar on Friday, December 23, 2011 from 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Burial will take in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com

Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour is assisting the family with arrangements.

We would like to thank our mom for fulfilling dad's lifelong wish to die in the house he was born in.
