Bernice E. Riehl, age 90, of Seymour passed away Wednesday morning, March 5, 2014 at Carolina Manor, Appleton. She was born October 2, 1923 daughter of the late Gerry and Anna (Pautz) Schaumberg.
On September 27, 1952 she was united in marriage to Francis Beil at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Francis preceded her in death September 24, 1966. On February 6, 1982 she was united in marriage to Nolan "Jim" Riehl at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville. Jim preceded her in death February 25, 2007.
Bernice was a member of Bethlehem Ev. Luther Church in Hortonville while raising her family. She was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Black Creek and later Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour and served on the Ladies Aid and Concordia, serving many funeral dinners. As a young woman she taught Sunday school at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and later in life was an active quilter.
Bernice worked with her husband Francis operating Beil's Dry Cleaning in Hortonville. She was a leader for the Lutheran Girl Pioneers in Hortonville and volunteered for the 4-H club and at the nursing home. She worked 15 years in food service for Hortonville Schools and for Good Shepherd in the food service area. Bernice enjoyed cooking and gardening.
She is survived by her children: William "Bill" (Sue) Beil, Columbia, TN; Maynard "Mick" (Jane) Beil, Seymour; Sue Ellen Beil, Corby, England; Wendy (Tim) Keller, Neenah; grandchildren: Francis (Rebecca) Beil, Tennessee; Bradd (Xueying Han) Beil, California; and Stacy (Anthony) Bush, Tennessee; Brian Beil, Madrid, Spain; Tim Keller, Jr., Appleton; Christine (fiancAC. Kyle Brinkman) Keller, Appleton; sister, Beatrice Murphy, Appleton; brother, Gerald (Gladys) Schaumberg, Seymour; brother-in-law, Carlton Stellmacher, Appleton; sisters-in-law: Elaine Schaumberg, Seymour; Alma Marien, Menasha; Lila Kaddater, Appleton; many nieces & nephews; her step-children: Jean Fuhrman, Appleton; Jim (Judy) Riehl, California; Nancy (Rudy) Plach, Greenville; Leo (Judy) Riehl, Little Chute; Cathy Puls, Shiocton; Louis Riehl, Shiocton; Lois (Robert) Volkman, Seymour; Steven (Beverly) Riehl, Weyauwega; step-daughters-in-law: Pat and Gloria Riehl, both of Black Creek; Arlene Riehl, Hortonville; step son-in-law, Mark Stapel; numerous step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, and step great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Francis Beil and Nolan "Jim" Riehl; brothers and sisters: Dorothy Stellmacher, Marie (Gordon) Bunkelman, Margaret (Maurice) Barclay, Florence (Herbert) Rusch, Vivian (Marvin) Druckrey, Eunice Schaumberg, and Maynard Schaumberg; sister-in-law, Eunice (LaVern) Hansen; brother-in-law: Frank Murphy; step-sons: Wesley, Paul, Leonard, Keith, Thomas, Dan Lee, Gerald and Leslie Riehl; step-daughter Sharon Stapel; step sons-in-law, Jerry Puls and Norb Fuhrman; sister-in-law, Verona Freund.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 4 to 8 pm and visitation will continue on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour from 9:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am, with Rev.
