Betty Jean Jameson, 98, of Seymour, WI passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024 after a long and fulfilled life.
Born December 22, 1925, to Hal and Florence (Leach) Hamlin in Mountain, WI. Betty was raised on a dairy farm and remembers those being happy and fun years . . . always in her dad's shadow. Betty attended Mountain High School, followed by Bellin Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She started her memorable career as a Registered Nurse at Bellin Hospital and loved this role. She obtained a Master's Degree from St. Norbert's College and continued her career as a faculty member and later the Director of Bellin School of Nursing. She thrived in education and management and was instrumental in turning the School of Nursing into a 4-year degree program. Betty ended her career as the Chief Administrator of Oconto Falls Hospital. During her tenure there, she also launched a medical clinic in the rural community of Lakewood, WI., bringing primary comprehensive medical care to the north.
Betty married the love of her life, LeRoy Jameson of Mountain, WI on December 21, 1947. They were blessed with 41 years of marriage, loved spending time at their cabin in Northern Wisconsin, visiting family and friends, fishing and sharing a martini.
After retirement, she moved to Texas with her husband, LeRoy and they traveled the country in their RV. They were spokespersons for Outdoor Resorts, putting their personalities to work. Throughout her life, Betty was active in the United Methodist Church and was a passionate servant in the mission field. She led programs at her churches in Port Isabel, TX and Corpus Christi, TX helping individuals who had immigrated from Mexico. While in Texas she made many friends and was a vibrant member of those communities.
Betty led a life lifting up others through powerful personal friendships, kindness and advocacy. She was a caring individual and committed follower of Jesus, thankful for each and every day.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her parents: Hal and Florence Hamlin; her sisters: Helen Eckert and June Marsh; and her brother, Wayne Hamlin; and great-grandson, Douglas King.
She is survived by her children: Brad (Jill Brunscheen) Jameson, Brenda (Dennis) Buckler; grandchildren: Stacie (Doug King) Buckler, Brian (Rachel) Buckler; six great-grandchildren: Hannah, John and Toni King, Emma, Anna, Abby Buckler; extended family member, Lupita Hoepner; and her children: Tony and Stephanie. She was loved by many nieces and nephews and felt very blessed by the time she spent with them.
The family is thankful for the care and love she received at the Good Shepherd Home in Seymour, WI.
Her dedication to health education continued even in her death. At Betty's request, her body will be donated to the University of Wisconsin - Madison for the advancement of science and to give back to the medical community.
