Beverly Coenen

October 13, 1934 — September 29, 2022

Beverly Mae Coenen, 87, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, September 29, 2022. She was born on October 13, 1934, in Shawano, to the late Owen and Viola (Jeske) Peterson. Beverly was a graduate of Shawano High School. She was united in marriage to Eugene Coenen on October 26, 1957, and the couple had seven children.

After graduating from high school Beverly worked at the Bell telephone company. She later enjoyed serving as a foster mother for numerous children and she also fostered children with Cerebral Palsy. Beverly always treated her foster children as her own. Her greatest passion in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Beverly loved traveling, and she and Eugene visited 49 states together and they took two trips to Europe. The couple also enjoyed being "snow birds" in Arizona where they made a lot of friends who became like a second family. Beverly loved painting, crocheting, and sewing. She was especially famous for making the world's best lemon meringue pies.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Coenen; five children: Debra (Henry) Kaster-White, Donna (Gregg) Sprangers, Dale Coenen (special friend, Jan Chevalier), Michael (Kari) Coenen, Carrie Schutt; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Coenen; 16 grandchildren: Joshua (Erin) Bonnin, Joseph (Sarah) Bonnin, Jason (Morgan) Bonnin, Dillon (Lisa) Kaster, Dereck Kaster, Mickaela (Kevin) Kurtz, Tyler (Brooke) Sprangers, McKenzie Sprangers, Angel Dick, Michelle Dick, Brandon (Amber) Coenen, Levi Coenen (special friend, Hailey Reynolds), Mitchell Coenen, Brooke Schutt (special friend, Sean LeBreck), Christian Schutt (special friend, Sarah Tilkens), and Andrew Homp; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gale (Sandra) Peterson; one sister, Judy Stache; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Geneva (Nichols) Coenen; two sons: Mark and Duane Coenen; and one brother-in-law, David Stache.
