Bruce R. Motquin, age 74 went to be with our heavenly Father on November 25, 2023 surrounded by his family and close friends.
He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was born in Green Bay, WI on January 4, 1949 to his parents Robert and Joyce Motquin. Bruce attended Green Bay West High School. Upon his graduation, he enlisted in the US Army proudly serving his country including 2 ½ years in Vietnam.
Upon completion of his military services, he came home and met the love of his life, Mary Rentmeester. They were united in marriage on February 6, 1971 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Oneida. He spent the next 52 years devoted to his wife and family.
Bruce was employed at O&E Machine Corp as a machinist until he retired. He was always happy to help his family, friends and neighbors in any way he could.
Bruce was a very dedicated family man who loved his wife, children and grand children as well as being a positive role model to many boys he had as a Boy Scout leader for 12 years. He taught young men reverence for God and country, respect, service to others, love of nature and the outdoors, camping, life values and strong ethics, leading them to become good men as adults. Each boy was special, and they knew that they could count on him and keep their confidence.
Bruce enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, going for rides, watching the animals in nature and feeding birds. He enjoyed the "dad jokes" from his sons. He loved playing cards and travel. Most of all he loved playing with his grandchildren, making special time for each of them and attending all their activities and events if possible. He always had a smile on his face for each, and a lap to sit on and a joke for each. He taught them to have a smile on their face and a good outlook on life. His best lessons for his grandchildren were to have "dessert first" and cookies at bedtime were a necessity.
Bruce was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Oneida, the Oneida VFW Post 7784 where he was a member of the Honor Guard, VVA Chapter 224, DAV, Boy Scouts of America, a member of a Native American Dance Team and the ELKS Lodge.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Mary; sons: Jon and Scot; daughter-in-law, Anne; special sister, Pat Rattle; brother-in-law, David Rattle; niece, Chrissy Rattle; nephews: Michael (Marie) Rattle, Jeremy (Cathy) Rattle, Jared Rattle; cousins and special friends: Don and Lori McLester and family.
Bruce was preceded in death by his infant son, Robert Arthur; parents, Robert and Joyce Motquin; in-laws, Arthur and Lorraine Rentmeester; brother-in-law, Arthur Rentmeester Jr.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 145 St. Joseph's Drive, Oneida with Father Paul Paider officiating. Private interment at a later date.
