Carol Maas

Carol June Borchardt Maas (Mrs. Herman Maas Jr.) 87, of Seymour, passed away peacefully in Delavan, WI, on August 8, 2013. Carol was born on June 7, 1926 in the town of Seymour to the late Michael and Gertrude Borchardt. Carol graduated from Marquette University School of Dental Hygiene and worked as a dental hygienist in the Green Bay and Pulaski area for most of her life until she retired. Carol married Herman Maas Jr. on December 27, 1947 in the town of Seymour. After their marriage Carol and Herman lived on the Borchardt farm in the town of Seymour where they farmed until 2004. Carol took great pride in her work as a dental hygienist and enjoyed gardening, flowers, entertaining and feeding the birds. She also enjoyed spending time with cherished friends. She served her church community as a Sunday School teacher for several years. Carol was proud of the farm that had been in her family for over a hundred years. Both Carol and Herman loved their little white dog Molly who was part of their lives as they grew older. She loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed dearly by them.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Gertrude Borchardt, her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Alvin Gehrke, and her husband, Herman Maas Jr. She leaves behind her two daughters, Sharon (Maas) Vande Hei of Madison, and Michele (Maas) Small of Delavan. Carol is also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer Heine of Lake Geneva, Eric Vande Hei of Houston, TX, and Jill Lorenz of Green Bay, and two great grandchildren, Dalton and Sierra Nowak of Lake Geneva, along with many nieces, nephews and their children.
Visitation will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 349 N. Main St, Seymour, WI on Tuesday August 13, 2013 from 9:30 to 11 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Natalie Kramer officiating. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
