Clayton P. Van Lannen, 88, of Seymour passed away Monday morning, August 26, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born October 24, 1924 in Preble, WI to the late Peter and Nellie (Linssen) Van Lannen. On May 22, 1947 he was united in marriage to Ruth Wallenfang at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Howard.
Clayton was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Isaar and a member of the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He had been a lector and lay distributor.
He was a farmer all of his life until his retirement.
Clayton loved to travel, read, play cards, fish, and walk.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons: Kevin (Diane) Van Lannen, Seymour; Steven (Bonnie) Van Lannen, Suamico; 4 grandchildren: Susan (Mike) Routheaux, Seymour; Scott Van Lannen, Pulaski; Miranda and Denver Van Lannen, Suamico; 1 great-grandchild, Clayton Routheaux, Seymour; sister-in-law Joan Kemp, Seymour; and many nieces and nephews.
Clayton was preceded in death by 11 siblings: Mat (Edna) Van Lannen, Frances (Abe) Martell, Hattie (Art) Longri, Marie (Joseph) Aesman, Clarence (Marge) Van Lannen, Norbert (Vi) Van Lannen, Agnes (Joseph) Wirth, Evelyn (Sylvester) Kraszewski, Harold (Beatrice) Van Lannen, Mildred (Stanley) Babiarz, and Edwin Van Lannen. Also preceded by in-laws: William (Grace Bins) Wallenfang, Evelyn (Richard) Brunner, Bernice (Daroll) Lewis, and James Kemp.
Friends may call at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Isaar, on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 9 am until the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Bob Kabat and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established in Clayton's name for the St. Sebastian Cemetery Fund.
