Clifford E. Webster, Sr., age 72 of Oneida passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born January 2, 1943, son of the late Arthur and Josephine (Wheelock) Webster.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Hill on March 26, 1964, celebrating over 50 years of marriage. Wanda preceded him in death on October 3, 2014.
Cliff was a member of Oneida United Methodist Church, having taught Sunday School.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1964. Following service, Cliff worked for U.S. Paper Mill.
He volunteered for the Oneida Recreation program for several years, later becoming the Recreation Director. Cliff played a vital role as the Director of the Recreation including: starting the Oneida Family Carnival, creating the Easter egg hunt, the many Christmas programs at the Recreation Center, and running the baseball programs. On January 19, 2013 the Hwy H Recreation Center was renamed in his honor.
Cliff continued his employment with the Oneida Tribe as the Park Director and later Transit Director. He retired from the tribe in May, 2011.
Over the years Cliff volunteered many hours of his time, having served on the Oneida Housing Board.
Cliff was a sports fan, especially any sport his grandchildren were playing, and also enjoyed the Packers, Brewers, and any boxing match on TV. In his younger years Cliff was an avid bowler and acquired a sizeable trophy collection.
His family was very important to him and he always looked forward to the family picnics.
He is survived by three children: Roberta "Robbie" Thomas, Green Bay; Clifford Jr. (Tammy) Webster, Oneida; Marla (Anthony Bodway) Webster, Oneida; seven grandchildren: Robert (Shandelle), Dominic (Traci), Jasmin, Joelle, Justin, Toni Marie, and Clifford; four great-grandchildren: Azaraiyah, Princeton, Suriya, and Lana. Further survived by his siblings: Shirley Blum, Donny (Alma) Webster, Irvin Webster, Audrey Webster, and Rita; Wanda's family: Beverly (Norman) Skenandore, Jeanne (Jerry) Kurowski, Brenda (Glen) Vanden Langenberg, John (Janet) Hill, and Norma "Tober" (Richard "Breezy") Brzezinski; sister-in-law, Irene Hill; and godchild, Jean Webster. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his dog, Bowser.
In addition to his wife and parents, Cliff was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Webster; siblings: Robert Webster, Marty Webster, Marie Scott, and Arthur Webster, Jr.; Wanda's parents, Emerson (Minnie) Hill; in-laws: Casper "Bummy" Hill and Lorelei (Tom) Begay; nephews: Brian Metoxen and Keith Vanden Langenberg.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 4 pm to 8 pm with the Oneida Hymn Singers at 6:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Oneida United Methodist Church from 9:30 am until the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Candace Ascher officiating. Burial will take place in Oneida United Methodist Cemetery with military honors.
