David D. Genke, age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Edenbrook Home in Appleton. He was born on February 8, 1946 to the late Dale and Edna (Pludeman) Genke.
David was united in marriage to Linda Lambie on June 8, 1974 at Seymour United Methodist Church. He graduated from Bonduel High School. Shortly after, he was drafted into the army. He was very proud of his military service. After returning, he received an Associates degree in Accounting. His career began at Brown County Savings and Loan and continued at Homestead Savings and Loan. He finished his working years at Larsen Coop as a Credit Manager. He was very active at church and served as the President of the Finance Committee.
He loved people and could start a conversation with anyone. He could even make a stranger laugh with his silly humor. He had special nicknames for his children, nieces, and nephews.
He loved all things sports! He played softball for many years in various local leagues. He never missed a New York Yankee game and could recite baseball statistics off the top of his head. He also enjoyed bowling and shooting dartball at church. His love for sports carried on through his children. He was always the first one in the stands cheering their teams on.
He is survived by his wife Linda Genke, children: Michelle (Corey) Miller and their children (Brett, Madeyln, and Collin); Brian (Maria) Genke and their children (Jack, Audrey, Ella); Kristy (Jason) Herbst and their children (Brayden, Masyn, Ava, Emma, Carter); Dan (Significant other Brittany) Genke. He is also survived by his brother Randy Genke and sister Debbie (Tom) Pleshek. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Dale and Edna Genke), Linda's parents (Milton and Esther Lambie), and sister-in-law, Mary Genke.
