David H. Husman, 82, of Appleton passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Cherry Meadows Hospice with his family at his side. He was born December 20, 1934, in Green Bay, WI the son of the late Herman F. and Alvilda J. (Score) Husman. On August 18, 1954, he was united in marriage to Barbara J. Braun in Black Creek, WI.
He was in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea.
David was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Appleton, Irish Waters Golf Course, Freedom, and the Appleton American Legion Post #38. He and Barb enjoyed the years at Boulder Lake, relaxing with their family, the winters in Florida with their snowbird friends, plus the hours on the golf course with friends.
David was a J.C. Penney Store Manager in Carrington and Rugby, North Dakota. He and Barbara owned Schauder Shoe Store in Clintonville, WI. He retired from Texas Laredo Boot Co. in 2000 after 25 years in the whole sale footwear industry. David served as President of the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce, President of the Northwest Western Wear and Equipment Travelers Association, Minneapolis, MN.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara; one daughter Jody (Jim) Schuette; two sons: Gregory (Karen) Husman and James Husman; four granddaughters: Laura (Patrick) Winkel, Krista Schuette (special friend Ryan Werner and Cam), Brianna and Kylie Husman; one great-grandson, Jameson Schuette, and great-granddaughter, Ella Winkel; brothers-in-law: James (Barbara) Braun, Dennis (Marlene) Braun, Gerald (Jane) Braun, Tom (Barbara) Braun, and Donald (Pamela) Braun; sisters-in-law: Sharon (David) O'Shasky, Sandra Braun, Vicki Van Vreede, Marilyn Braun, and Joyce Braun.
David is preceded by his parents; an infant son, Terry Joseph; brother, Vernon (Carmen) Beyer; brothers-in-law, David and Kenneth Braun; and sisters-in-law: Mary and Natalie Braun.
Friends may call at First United Methodist Church, 325 E. Franklin Street, Appleton, WI on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 9:00 am until the memorial service at 11:00 am with Pastor Dave Farina officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dave's memory.
