David H. Vande Hei, 89, Seymour, passed away at Good Shepherd Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. He was born on December 3, 1931, to the late Albert and Gertrude (Hoffman) Vande Hei. David was united in marriage to Rosemary Jeffers on September 4, 1965, in Green Bay. Rosemary preceded David in death on April 10, 2001.
David was a dairy farmer for his entire life. He was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour, where he served as an usher and in other capacities. David was also a member of the Cicero Fire Department for over 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, and in his later years he liked fishing. David also stayed active by regularly swimming and biking. He could often be found walking and talking with his many friends in the community.
He is survived by his five children: Polly (Scott) Kimball, New London, Dave (Dawn) Vande Hei, Black Creek, Andy (special friend, Connie Zernicke) Vande Hei, Bonduel, Marty (Ann) Vande Hei, Pulaski, Emily (Charles) Bauer, Dale; grandchildren: Shane and Heidi Kimball, Justin, Nathan, and Makenna Vande Hei, Oliver Zernicke, Reed Vande Hei, and Adeline and Thomas Bauer; one brother, Don (Helen) Vande Hei, Seymour; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, David was preceded in death by siblings: Fran (Dolores) Vande Hei, Dorothy Vande Hei, Ruth (Bob) Blonde, Arlene (Jim) Boyea.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 915 Ivory St, Seymour, Fr. Sengole Dass, O. Praem and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour is assisting the family with arrangements.
