Dolores "Dolly" Van Boxtel, 90, Seymour, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, February 14, 2022. She was born on October 8, 1931, to the late William and Mary (Maass) Arnoldussen. Dolores was united in marriage to Sylvester "Ves" Van Boxtel on June 10, 1950, and they raised six children and enjoyed 67 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on October 2, 2017.
Dolores was an active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom, where she belonged to Christian Mothers. Dolores and Ves later became members of St. John Catholic Church. She was active in the community; she enjoyed fundraising, working at the voting polls and was a classroom helper. She enjoyed family dinners and making her famous chocolate chip cookies, which were enjoyed by all. Dolores also enjoyed square dancing throughout the state of Wisconsin. Dolores and Ves were also members of the Dairyland Snowmobile Club and enjoyed playing cards. She was a devoted mother, and no matter how busy she was with chores, she and Ves always reserved Sundays for family time.
She is survived by six children: Dennis (Kathleen) Van Boxtel, Appleton; Diane (Russell Tapley) Van Boxtel, Green Bay; Daniel (Teri) Van Boxtel, Seymour; Steven (Paula) Van Boxtel, Seymour; Kenneth (Tina) Van Boxtel, Tomahawk; Darlene (Joe) Bougie, Freedom; grandchildren: Sara Stone, Carrie (Ken) Meyer, Autumn (Adam) Solakiewicz, Ashley (Justin) Peterson, Amanda (Keith) Keskinen, Abbey Van Boxtel (fiancee, Sam Kuehn), Jamie (Christie) Van Boxtel, Cody (Sarah) Van Boxtel, Dylan (Ann) Van Boxtel, Tiffany Van Boxtel, Courtney Bougie, and Lindsey Bougie; great-grandchildren: Sam, Hannah, Hailey, Caleesi, Odin, Hunter, Cooper, Mia, Lily, Bentley; step-grandchildren: Nathan (Nicole) Haase, Lexie Haase, Lyssa Haase, Cayley Haase (Gabe); step-great grandchildren Ashley Rastogi (Anuj), Chelsea Spranger (fiancee Mason Polaske), and Allison Spranger; two sisters: Bernice Tesch, and Carol Palmer, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Friends may call at St. John Catholic Church, Seymour, on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. Bob Kabat and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. For those not able to attend, the service will be streamed live on the Muehl-Boettcher Facebook page at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
The family extends a special thanks to Dolores' caregiver, Leah Trudell, for her attentive care and unending concern.
