Donald William Huben, 91, of Oneida passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 as the result of a vehicle accident. He was born January 7, 1925, son of the late Fred and Eva (Reschke) Huben.
He served his country in the US Army stationed in Japan. On January 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Rose Ann Van Deraa. She preceded him in death July 12, 2016.
Don is a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Oneida. He was a farmer his whole life and enjoyed working in his shop making bird houses, coat racks, tables, etc. to be given away to family and friends. He also enjoyed cutting lumber in his saw mill. Don had a huge garden every year, also to be shared. He still enjoyed working in the woods and driving tractor.
He is survived by his children: Carol (Arlyn) Wilinski, Seymour; Gary (Julie) Huben, Oneida; Donald Jr. (Kris) Huben, Seymour; grandchildren: Aaron (Lynn) Huben, Mitchell Huben (special friend, Sara), Jason Huben (special friend Katie), Alicia Huben, Emily (Paul) Ashman, Jennifer Wilinski ; two great-grandchildren: Lee and Axel; He is further survived by his sister, Joyce Powers; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jerome (Lorraine) Van Deraa, Jerry (Jeanne) Van Deraa, Barbara (Randy) Moehr, Judy (Marvin)Vande Voort; Theresa Van Deraa, Leona Van Deraa, Phyllis Van Deraa, and Joyce Van Deraa; god children: Linda Thompson, Sue Reich, Tracy Van Deraa, Dawn Schuster, Bob Rausch, Tom Beth, and Peggy Powers.
Don is preceded in death by brother: Jim (Marie) Huben; sisters: Ione (Sylvester) Stenz and Lucille (Eddie) Crane; brother-in-law, Pat Powers; Roses siblings: Donald, Jim, Marvin, Marty, Elizabeth (John) Schmitz and Paul Reichard.
Services for Colleen and Donald will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016 visitation at 9:30 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oneida with Father John Chrysostom Katamba and Deacon Bobby Doxtator officiating. Burial will take place in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Howard. Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at
