Doris J. Schmidt, age 73, of Shiocton passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 with her family by her side. She was born on March 7, 1949 daughter of the late Oscar and Carola (Schucknecht) Gregorius.
She was a graduate of Seymour High School. Doris married the love of her life, Wayne on May 6, 1972 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Black Creek, which is where she and Wayne first became acquainted.
Doris remained a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ faithfully and actively volunteered her time and talents tirelessly, especially in Sunday School and the church kitchen. She taught the youth of the church for over 60 years.
She was the secretary of the Black Creek Railriders Snowmobile Club for 25 years, and belonged to numerous other organizations over the years.
Doris and Wayne raised their family on the their dairy farm in Shiocton, and she also loved many other children as her own. She had a motherly nature and was always there to help anyone in need. Her open-door policy will be something that Doris will always be remembered for.
Doris was an avid gardener who loved feeding her family and the neighborhood with the harvests. Caring for her family was of most importance, of which her grandchildren were her biggest pride and joy.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; children: Mark Schmidt, Robin Schmidt, Paul (Taycie) Schmidt and their sons, Jordan and Haydan; brother, Dale (Marilyn) Gregorius; sister-in-law, Carol Schmidt; the children she loved as her own: Sheila (Scott) Neff and their daughters, Seija and Keira; Dawn (John) Steinberg and their son, Dietrich. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leslie and Marjorie Schmidt; sister-in-law, Kathleen Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Daniel Schmidt.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, November 21, 2022 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Black Creek, from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Moira Finley officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Doris's memory.
