VANDE CORPUT, DOROTHY
Seymour

Dorothy M. Vande Corput, age 74, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2007. She was born on March 10, 1933 to the late Alfred "Bill" and Josephine (Landwehr) Palmer at their home in the town of Clayton. She attended Valley Brook Elementary and Winneconne High School. Her love of school and children encouraged her to become a teacher. She enrolled in Stevens Point Teachers College for the two year rural course. After receiving her teaching certificate she taught grades 1-5 at Allenville School, a one-room rural school for three years. On June 9, 1956 she married the love of her life, Herbert Vande Corput, of Seymour. Together they celebrated 51 years of marriage. Herb preceded her in death on July 22, 2007. They farmed in rural Seymour while she continued teaching 1st grade and substitute teaching for Seymour Schools for 7 more years. Dorothy retired from teaching to become a full time farm and house wife. After their retirement from farming in 1974, she began doing income taxes for Lubinski Law Firm until her retirement in April 2007.

She was actively involved in 4-H throughout her entire life. Dorothy was a member at St. John the Baptist Church and served on several different committees within the church and volunteered at St. John's School. Dorothy especially treasured the times spent with her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener, birdwatcher, Packer fan and looked forward to her weekly bowling night.
