Dorothy Fellion, age 89, of Seymour and formerly of Niagara, WI passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Seymour.
She was born in Chicago, IL, on September 27, 1926, the middle child and only daughter of the late Clarence and Gertrude (Siler) Dixon. After surviving a scary, months-long bout of pneumonia as a young girl, she had an active, outgoing, zest-for-life that highlighted the sparkling personality for which she will always be fondly remembered.
Following graduation from Kelly High School in Chicago, Dorothy began working for the Navy and became a military wife and mother. Military orders led the family to NM, CA, NC, GA, and IL. Upon completion of service, Niagara, WI became home. There, she worked for the Village of Niagara, and later began her long-term career as the friendliest banker in WI & Upper MI. She was a volunteer at the VA Hospital; and was active with Niagara's Mary Hill Manor, where she sponsored a room in honor of her beloved Daddy after his passing.
She enjoyed 40 years of marriage to her true love, Robert Fellion, until he preceded her in death on February 25, 2010. They shared a love of the north woods of Wisconsin. Scores of family and friends have decades of cherished memories of Dorothy & Bob's warm, "up-north" hospitality - snowmobile trips through the woods to the cabin, bountiful strawberry harvests, hot summer day visits to Timms Lake, and the legendary winter weekends on their private sledding hill (complete with hot cocoa, sleeping bags, and stunning northern lights!)
Before health issues kept them closer to home, Dor & Bob enjoyed wintering in Lady Lake, FL. Championed by Dorothy's delightful, outgoing personality, they made many dear friends at their winter home, and came back every spring with stories of hilarious card party shenanigans and zany St. Patrick's Day festivities.
Dorothy was a loving Christian and for many years participated as a gifted member of her church choir in Niagara; in Seymour, she was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was also a 55-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Dorothy is survived and celebrated by her daughters: Lynn Cartier, Seymour; Linda (Joe) Tripp, Pembine; four granddaughters: Donna (Hank), Kirsten (Cavin), Megan (Jana), and Marcie (Kimani); 11 great-grandchildren: Tayler, Lonee, Helena, Pace, Joelle, Evangelynn, Margeaux, Solomon, Malin, Harlow, and JJ; 2 great-great-grandchildren: Dylan and Rafael; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and 2 brothers, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Joel Cartier.
Friends and relatives are invited to join the family for a memorial service to celebrate Dorothy's very special life at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 9:00 until the service at 11:00 am with Fr.
