Elaine Letter, 83, of Black Creek passed away suddenly following a brief illness on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at her home. She was born on January 13, 1940 to the late Casimir and Johanna (Mancheski) Skaletski.
On September 5, 1964 she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Letter at Holy Trinity Parish in Pine Grove. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2022.
She was a faithful member at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Navarino and was active with the Christian Mothers.
Elaine and Bill farmed and raised their family on the original Letter family farm.
She is survived by 11 children: Annette (Tom) Krahn, Philip (Lori) Letter, Anthony (Cheryl) Letter, Anita (Troy) Wegner, Gregory (Janet) Letter, Christopher Letter, Linda (Chuck) Beschta, Bobbie Jo (Pong) Her, Melissa (Jason) Boldt, Francis (Eric Horrell) Letter, and Timothy (Justin Ell) Letter; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by her siblings: Sister Roslyn Skaletski, Leo (Marilyn) Skaletski, and Annabelle Skaletski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jim (Sheila) Letter, Kathy (Jerry) Mueller, Karen (Mike) Forsberg, Cy (Patti) Letter, Chuck Letter, Barb (Murray) Neppl, Carol (Matt) Opgenorth, Lucille Letter, and Ruth Letter.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister: Norbert Skaletski, Medard (Florence) Skaletski, and Dolores Skaletski; brothers-in-law: Robert Letter and Joseph Letter; nephew, Jonathan Letter.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with recital of the rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, February 6, 2023 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Navarino from 9:00 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Fr. Phil Schoofs, Fr. Donald Zuleger, and Fr. Tim Schilcox concelebrating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
