Seymour
Ethel (Voight) Brown, age 95 passed away Monday evening, July 13, 2009 at her home with her family at her side. She was born August 15, 1913, in the Town of Grand Chute, daughter of the late Ben and Pauline (Lemke) Voight. She was a graduate of Shiocton High School, class of 1930, and Outagamie Rural Normal School, class of 1931. She taught at Sunnyslope School in the Town of Greenville .
Ethel married Kenneth Brown on November 28, 1933. The couple farmed in the town of Freedom for 46 years, and lived in Seymour since 1979. Her husband preceded her in death on April 8, 1990.
Survivors include her daughters: Janet Rohm, Appleton; Jeanne (Bob) McAndrew, Norwalk, CT; Joyce Van Wychen, Freedom; her sons: Victor (Marlene) Brown, Seymour; Kenneth "Bud" (Nancy), Weyauwega; Bill (Sally) Brown, Neenah; daughter-in-law Violet Brown, Black Creek; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; several step-grand and step-great-grandchildren. Also a sister, Claire (Nuss) Beyer, Appleton; sisters in-law, Leona Voight, Shiocton, and Phyllis Brown, Appleton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Sheldon, and a son-in-law, Glen Rohm; a step-great-grandchild; a step-great-great-grandchild; six brothers: Oscar (Thelma), Earl (Lorraine), Leonard, Russel, George (Hazel), and Victor (Ruth); two sisters and brothers-in-law: Alice and Walter Woehler, Grace and Butch Conrad; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Adeline and Les Rockwell, Berdine and Alfred Springstroh; two brothers-in-law: Ben Brown and Clarence Beyer; mother and father-in-law Jenny and George Brown and an infant sister who died at birth; also preceded by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Thursday, July 16, 2009 from 4 PM until 8 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour from 10 AM until services at 11 AM with Pastor Roland Lindeman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Muehl Public Library, Seymour, or to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour for the Ministry tapes.
The family would like to thank Muehl Public Library, Seymour, for always seeing to it that she had good reading material, and to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, for furnishing her with the weekly Ministry Tapes, and Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home.
