Eugene J. Platten, age 81, of Isaar, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 9, 2014 at Grancare Gardens Assisted Living. He was born October 11, 1932, son of the late John and Emma (Schunk) Platten.
Eugene farmed in the Town of Seymour until his retirement and was a 3rd generation farmer. He enjoyed history, especially the Civil War and World War II. Harley Davison and Indian Motor Cycles were his passion and he liked to tinker with old tractors and farm equipment.
He is survived by his three sisters: Virginia Zobel, Green Bay; Alice Bogenschutz, Kaukauna; Audrey (Robert) Tierney, Menasha; two sisters-in-law: Leona and Diane Platten; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death five sisters: twin baby girls, Geneva and Florence Plattten, Frances Woodtke; three brothers: Norman, Vernon and John III Platten; two brothers-in-law: Don Zobel and Bill Woodke; nieces and nephews: Tim Tierney, Gerald Zobel, John Bogenschutz, Sandy Platten and Jill Woodke.
Friends may call at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, N9269 Isaar Rd, Seymour on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 11 a.m. until the funeral mass at 1:30 p.m. with Fr. Bob Kabat and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at
