Eugene D. Stammer, Sr., died at 78 years old on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his home in Shiocton after a 14 year battle with COPD and Emphysema. He was born December 26, 1934 in Appleton, Wisconsin to Reno and Johanna (Hanus) Stammer. Gene and Pat Hinz were married in Boerne, Texas on December 17, 1955.
Gene served 13 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving 3 tours in Vietnam and retiring as a Major in the Air Force Reserves. He was a Captain for TWA, retiring after 25 years. His wife Pat and he also owned E-Z Lube on Wisconsin Ave. in Appleton for 23 years. He was a member of Black Creek American Legion Post and the Reserve Officers Association. His greatest enjoyment was moving dirt around with the backhoe and building furniture.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; his daughter, Melanie Richardson; his son, E. David Stammer Jr.; his granddaughters, Krystal and Katrina Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his son Jason; his sister Nancy Wilson; his brother Kenneth Stammer.
Visitation will be at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, W5125 St. Hwy 156, Navarino, WI 54107 on Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 9 a.m. to start of service at 11a.m. Military Honors will take place following the service.
