Eugene W. Stephani, 97, Seymour, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born January 6, 1925, to the late Jacob and Lorinda (Beyer) Stephani. Gene was united in marriage to Lois Plamann on November 29, 1947. She preceded him in death on June 16, 1991.
Gene was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek for the majority of his life. He began his career as a farmer while working fulltime at the Black Creek Kraut factory. After retiring from farming in 1972, he began working at K & B Auto, selling cars, and he finished his career at Center Valley Co-op. Gene enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards and spending time with his family. He was a friend to many and a stranger to none!
Gene is survived by his seven children: Barbara VanStraten, Black Creek; Patricia (Gene) Colwitz, De Pere; Bruce (Sarah) Stephani, Black Creek; LuAnn (Bud) Louison, Hortonville; Laurie (Jim) Palubicki, Seymour; Brian (Jean) Stephani, Fox Crossing; and Bradley (Stacey) Stephani, Black Creek; 18 grandchildren: Andrea, Heather (Dick Dobbs), and Jay VanStraten; Erin Colwitz, Sarah Kubiak, and Andy (Jennine) Colwitz; Megan (Jared) Johnson; Luke (Laura) and Matt (Andrea) Louison; Jenna, Paige (Jorge) and Alex Palubicki; Alissa (Brandon) Laundrie, Amber Stephani, Gabby and Jake Aijala; Peyton (James) Simpson and Blade Stephani; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his two sisters: Kathleen (James) Fischer, and LaVerne (Ronald) Cropsey; sisters-in-law: Lavina (Ervin) and Marcie (Jerome) Stephani, and lifelong family friend, Donny Beyer.
He was preceded in death by his sisters: Elvera (Richard) Maroszek, Florence (Edward) McCarthy, Delores (Arnold) Strauch, Joyce (Vern) Manthei, and Roselyn Mauthe; and his brothers: Ervin (Lavina), Lawrence (Delores) and Jerome (Marcie) Stephani. He was also preceded in death by Lois' family: George and Hulda Plamann; four sisters-in-law: Leola (George) Lutz, Marcella (Bob) Schommer, Bernice (Bill) Techlin, Ardene (Clyde) Weyenberg; and three brothers-in-law: Wilmer, Melvin (Virginia) and Duane (Charlotte) Plamann.
Visitation will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 915 Ivory Street, Seymour, on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m., Fr. Sengole Dass and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
