Florine M. Blohm, 87, of Seymour passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Meadow Wood Assisted Living. She was born on December 10, 1930, daughter of the late Peter and Clementine (Merckx) Wachtendonck.
Florine attended normal school and taught in a one-room school house. She used her skills as a substitute teacher while raising her family.
She was united in marriage to Alvin Blohm on January 27, 1953 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour. Florine remained an active lifelong member of the church, having served as the CCD Coordinator, church secretary, song leader, and choir member.
Florine worked as an Administrative Assistant at Bank One for many years prior to her retirement.
She enjoyed sewing, singing, playing piano, gardening, long walks, and especially time spent with her family.
Florine is survived by her children: Mike (Mary) Blohm, Judy Blohm, Mary (Jeff) Skinkis, Mark Blohm, Jim (Cory) Blohm, John Blohm (special friend Candy Webster), Marsha Vande Hei (special friend Gary Johnson), Matt (Deb) Blohm; grandchildren: Chad (Cortney) Blohm, Erin (Max) Brown, Jenny (David) Jennings, Nicole (Jack) Carter, Elizabeth (Lewis) Prior, Casey, Sam and Zack Blohm, Megan, Justin and Jason Skinkis, Ben (Chelsea), Mackenzie and Cole Vande Hei, Gwen (Brandon) Mooren, Erica and Craig Blohm, Dayne and Hailee Blohm, Jordan and Mikayla Blohm; nine great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Joan Wendt; and sister-in-law, Virginia Wachtendonk; brother-in-law, Leland (Betty) Blohm; sisters-in-law: Shirley Vanden Berg and Nancy (Melvin) Klarner.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Joseph; two brothers, Henry and Richard; sister, Agnes Baehler; son-in-law, Paul Vande Hei; brothers-in-law: Louis Wendt and Donald Vanden Berg.
Friends may call at St. John’s Catholic Church, Seymour on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 3 p.m. until the funeral mass at 7 p.m. with Fr. Brian Belongia and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating.
