Frederick D. Schroeder, 75, of Appleton, formerly Black Creek, passed away Monday morning, June 1, 2015 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born August 6, 1939 in Neenah, to the late Frederick Sr. and Marie (Belongia) Schroeder.
He was a graduate of Shiocton High School. Fred was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving at Aviano Air Force Base, Italy, returning home to marry Kathleen Brugger January 6, 1962 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Black Creek. He was the owner of Nichols Ballroom, Nichols from 1970 to 1974. Fred was a truck driver driving for American Can, Seymour Transfer, retiring from Con-Way Central in 2001. Fred was a member of the Moose Lodge 367 in Appleton. He loved sports and was a former umpire for the Dairyland Baseball league. Fred enjoyed spending his winters in Florida since his retirement and especially time spent with his family following all of his grandchildren's activities.
They raised three wonderful children, Timothy and his children, Erik, Mandy (Curtis Denk) and their son, Ethan; Todd (Lynn) and their daughters, Kylie and Marissa; Kelly (Robyn) Wussow and their son, Jorey.
Fred is survived by his wife, Kathy and his two children; siblings: Shirley Siewert, Donna Shepard, Larry (Margaret) Schroeder, Joanne (Roland) Gasser, William (Cindy) Schroeder, Dennis (Pat) Schroeder, Patricia (Lyle) Shepard, Catherine Rettler, Diane (David) Bunnell, Richard (Carol) Schroeder, Dennis (Pat) Schroeder; sisters and brothers-in-law: Joan Brugger, Brian (Pat) Brugger, Lynn (Bill) Hall, Amy (Fred) Peters, Joan Brugger and Debbie Brugger; many nieces, nephews and many special friends; his four godchildren, Denise, Scott, Tracy and Tammy; Fred's special pet Laci.
Fred is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dawn Lea and son, Timothy Frederick in 2010; mother-in-law and father-in-law Eileen and Lawrence Brugger; brothers-in-law: William Siewert, Merton Shepard, John VanDenBogart, James Rettler, Jim, Burt, and Laverne Brugger.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at New Life United Methodist Church from 9:30 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rebecca Henry officiating.
