Gary Murphy, age 70, of Black Creek, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Gary was born on January 12, 1954 to the late Ralph and Gladys (Hock) Murphy. Shortly after he graduated from Freedom High School, he was united in marriage to Janice Gosz on July 5, 1973 at St Mary's in Black Creek.
Gary was employed at Neenah Foundry for 40 years and retired in 2013 to spend more time working on the hobby farm he built with Janice at their residence. He enjoyed coaching his sons' youth baseball teams, working on the many cars he owned over the years and spending time with his grandchildren. The hobby farm included many animals including numerous dogs, cats and horses which he loved taking care of. Gary and Janice enjoyed trail riding with the horses during retirement although they recently transitioned to UTV riding. He also took pride in planning and maintaining his garden and the many trees on their property. A dedicated fan of the Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers, Gary also liked watching western movies in his free time.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Janice Murphy; sons Scott (Connie) Murphy and Robert (fiance Heather Budler-Ronzoni), grandchildren Rylie, Addie, Claire, Logan, Lucas, Liam, Lennon, Morgan, Julien, Amaya, and Olive, siblings Pat Murphy; Brian (Rachel) Murphy, and Scott (Jane) Murphy; and in-laws JoAnne (Gene) Kaczrowski, Carol (Dave) Truyman, Dick (Shirley McGlin) Gosz, Dennis (Linda) Gosz, Jean (Pete Larsen) Morrow, Jerry (Tammy) Gosz, Diane (Tom) Gilbert, and Mary (Jim) Kent. Gary is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Gladys, brother David and sister-in-law Mary, infant brothers Marty and Jeff Murphy, nephew Michael Murphy, uncle Robert Geurts, who employed Gary as a teenager at Geurts' Service Station, and in-laws Leo and Dorothy Gosz, sister-in-law Lynn Gosz Wilson, and brother-in-law Robert Leo Gosz.
