Gene M. Flegal, age 61, of Seymour, passed away Friday morning, May 1, 2015 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. He was born January 25, 1954, son of Roger and Beatrice (Hall) Flegal.
Following graduation from Wabeno High School in 1972, Gene enlisted in the US Army.
He married Cindy Bailey and she preceded him in death on August 27, 1996.
Gene worked for Van Handel's for over 30 years as a heavy equipment mechanic/foreman. He was very proud of his work and was known throughout the Fox Valley for his expertise.
Gene had a great love for the outdoors. He was passionate about camping, hunting, racing, football, snowmobiling, and loved fishing with family and friends in Northern Wisconsin and Canada. In addition, he worked on the safety crew at Wisconsin International Raceway and the Wabeno Fire Department.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Theresa Flegal, Neenah; son, David Flegal, Freedom; grandchildren: Camdon and Addison Flegal; parents, Roger and Beatrice Flegal, Wabeno; brothers, Blaine (Cheryl) Flegal, Winchester; Ronald Flegal, Neenah; sisters: Diane (Bob) James, Denver, CO; Suann (Brian) Piontek, Chadron, NE; significant other, Tamela "TJ", Darboy. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Lester and Naomi Flegal, Joe and Nellie Hall; father-in-law and mother-in-law: James and Florence Mandel.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 3:30 pm until the funeral service at 6:30 pm with Pastor Lee Jennings officiating. Inurnment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wabeno at a later date.
