Gerald "Jerry" Ruechel, 81, of Pulaski and Mesa, AZ, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017. He was born June 4, 1936, son of the late Gordon and Ruby (Caelwaerts) Ruechel.
Gerald is a member of St. Edward and Isidore Catholic Church, Flintville.
Gerald graduated from Pulaski High School in 1954 and entered the US Air Force in December, 1954 and served until October, 1958.
On August 27, 1955 he was united in marriage to Betty Paczkowski.
Gerald dairy farmed for many years and drove truck for Peters Concrete and Carew.
He enjoyed golfing, deer hunting, and bowling. Gerald also enjoyed singing in a chorus in Arizona and listening to music. During his time in Arizona, he was depended upon to watch over other properties and maintain them while people traveled.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Betty Maher; children: Virginia (Gary) Helein, Mark Ruechel, Brenda (Tom) Ehlers, Holly (Jerry) Husting, Scott (Cheryl) Ruechel, Eric (Janet) Ruechel, 21 grandchildren: Nick (Diana), Erica (Jason), Brock (fiancAC. Ashley), Megan (special friend William), Ryan, Ashley (JJ), Amy (Ben), Jared (fiancAC. Jennifer), Wes, Brad, Jeff, Elizabeth, Branden (special friend Jacki), Adam, Lacey, Amanda, Kevin, Kyle, Lukas, Samantha, (Josh), and Nathaniel; 3 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Diane Ruechel. Further survived by his siblings: Leon (Janet) Ruechel, Marlis (Ed Ertman) Ruechel, Neal (Linda) Ruechel, Kay (Bob) Sorenson, Dean (Vicki) Ruechel, and Lori (Ray Spakowicz) Ruechel; sister-in-law, Sue Ruechel DePuy. Further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gerald is preceded in death by an infant sister, Diane Ruechel; and brother, Lance Ruechel.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Thursday, October 5, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, October 6, 2017, at St. Edward and Isidore Catholic Church, 3667 Flintville Rd, Suamico, from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Father David Hoffman officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with military honors.
