Gerald A. "Butch" Saindon Jr., 74, Seymour, passed into eternal life on April 14, 2023, after a long battle with FTD (Fronto Temporal Degeneration), an inherited brain disorder. He was born on August 13, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Gerald Sr. and Elizabeth (Drazen) Saindon. Gerald grew up in northern Illinois farm country, the middle child of eleven children.
He served as a Russian translator in US Army Military Intelligence from 1968 to 1972. Gerald attended the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA and served with the 18th Military Intelligence Battalion in Munich, Germany. He attended UW-Green Bay majoring in communications and graduated cum laude.
Gerald spent his entire teaching career at Appleton West High School. Poetry was his particular love and he was published in multiple sources. Besides teaching full-time and raising seven children Gerald was the founding president of Vida Medical Clinic in Appleton (formerly Mother and Unborn Baby Care). Thousands of young women were served during his tenure and were encouraged and supported to choose life for their babies. Gerald's greatest love was little children; all children. They both inspired and entertained him and he gave his life to making his community a place where every child was wanted and loved. Gerald was a member of St. John the Baptist in Seymour where he sang in the choir and was a Third Order Secular Franciscan (St. Anne Fraternity).
Gerald is survived by his wife, Peggy (Mueller) Saindon, Seymour; and their children: Jared (Beth) Saindon, Green Bay; Jordan Saindon, Green Bay; Esme (Riley) Banks, Appleton; Neil (Calyn) Saindon, Geen Bay; Lucie (Sean) Butner, Montgomery, AL; Veronica (Ben) Hendrickson, Appleton; and Joan (Loren) Snyder, Oshkosh. He was the proud grandfather of Sophia, Zelie, Joachim, Seamus, Galen & Maureen; Dade; Harvey; Eamon, Matilda & Brigid; Eli, Sam, Henry & Ruth; Keaton, Danica & Conrad. Gerald was further survived by numerous siblings and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by four siblings: Paul Saindon, Geraldine Diedrich, Elizabeth (Dennis) Driscoll, and Daniel Saindon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Alfred and Anne (Dillon) Mueller.
