Gerald Segersin

June 6, 1949 — April 23, 2012

Gerald "Jerry" W. Segersin, 62, of Black Creek passed away early Monday morning, April 23, 2012 after a courageous 8 year battle with prostate cancer, at his home. He was born June 6, 1949 son of the late Albert and Bernadine (Lewis) Segersin. Jerry was a 1968 graduate of West High School. On February 5, 1972 he was united in marriage to Sandy Lemerond, they have spent 40 years of marriage together.

Jerry was a volunteer Vietnam Army Veteran and a member of Seymour American Legion and lifetime member of both Vietnam Veterans #351 and the Appleton Disabled Veterans Chapter 18 where he was Adjutant and Junior Vice Commander. Jerry was a truck driver with Hotline Freight until his illness. He enjoyed fishing, watching eagles, reading and time spent with his family. Jerry was known as Willy Wonka and the Candy Man, offering candy to everyone at the hospitals where he was treated. In June 2011 he went on the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy; children: Lisa Segersin (boyfriend Christopher); Molly (Scott) Kubichek; Christopher (Kristen) Dewane; Tammy (Ricky) Paplham; nine grandchildren: Ava, Hayden and Kaitlyn Kubichek, T.J., Holly, Abby and Sam Dewane, Justin and Jenna Paplham; a brother, Edward (Linda) Segersin, Oneida; two sisters, Judy Wendt and Mary Schwake, both of Green Bay; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sherry Lemerond, Shelley (Don) Bauldry, Shirley (Dave) Koepke; nieces and nephews

Preceded in death by his parents; nieces: Shelby Haffeman and Julie Kinney

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 4-8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 PM and Saturday, April 28, 2012 at from 9:00 AM until services at 10:30 AM with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating, with military rites by the Seymour Legion and Honor Guard to follow. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Camp American Legion, Old Glory Honor Flight and D.A.V.
Transportation.

A special thank you to Dr. Goggins and Dr. Grenier, all the staff and nurses at Fox Valley Hematology, Oncology, Dr. Mitchell at the Appleton VA Clinic, the nurses and doctors at the Milwaukee VA Hospital for all their care and compassion. A special Thanks to the Unity Hospice nurses especially Pam, Cheryl, Heidi and the CNA's.
