Gladys D. Wry, 87, of Black Creek, passed away early Friday morning, December 11, 2015 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was born January 23, 1928 daughter of the late William and Marie (Klitzke) Sigl. On October 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Wry. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1987.
Gladys was a cook at Black Creek Elementary School for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Black Creek where she was the head cook in the kitchen for various church events and was also involved as a CCD teacher. She also was a member of the Vicariate and St. Vincent DePaul. Gladys was a member of the Black Creek American Legion Auxillary.
She is survived by her children: Barbara Wry, Council Grove, KS; William (Jodi) Wry, Black Creek; Brenda Wry (Dan) Wochinski, New London; grandson, Andrew (Amy) Wry, Black Creek; and 2 great-granddaughters: Adalyn and Amelia.
Gladys is preceded in death by her 5 brothers: Clem, Jerome, Norbert, Wilbur, and Cyril; and a sister, Irene Schnabl.
Friends may call at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Black Creek on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Father Theodore Hendricks officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
