Grace Helms

Grace Josephine Helms, 93, Seymour, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. She was born on March 2, 1928, to the late Bernard and Mary (Humecki) Swiecichowski. She was united in marriage to Arlyn Helms on January, 24, 1945. He preceded her in death on March, 30, 2017. The couple celebrated 72 years of marriage together.

Grace was a devoted member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, where she led a special religion class. She was very active in the community through her volunteering efforts, and was named "Outstanding Citizen" in 1987, which she most lovingly deserved. Grace and Aryln were instrumental with the operation of the Seymour food pantry for 19 years. Grace was employed as a cook at Good Shepherd Services and Seymour High School. She also enjoyed the years she worked at Kailhofer's Greenhouse in Seymour.

Grace was a phenomenal cook, and nobody left her house hungry. Grace and Arlyn enjoyed tending to their flowers. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Roger (Barb) Helms, Seymour; Barbara (Jerome) Ciesielczyk, Shawano; and Raymond (Paula) Helms, Seymour; grandchildren: Michelle (Scott) Daub, Nicolle (Jim) Kaczrowski, Ryan (Jennifer) Helms, Tracy (Don) Frevert, Matthew (Jodi) Ciesielczyk, Nathan (Kathryn) Ciesielczyk, Joshua Helms, Adam (Melissa) Helms, Sarah Helms, and Chad (Lacy) Hatton; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Shirley) Swiecichowski, Green Bay; one sister, Ceil Murphy, Appleton; one sister-in-law, Faye Swiecichowski, Shawano; special friends: Randy (Nancy) Schneider, Seymour; and Jeff (Tanya) Schneider, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Grace was preceded in death by her siblings: Rita (Jack) Weier, Clarence Swiecichowski, and Phyllis Swiecichowski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Michael, Norman (Marcella), Verla (Richard), Margie (Dino), Glenda (Harold), and Loreen (Robert); and a special aunt, Anna Graf.

Visitation will take place on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Visitation continues at church Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Ty Stoneburner officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery.

Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family extends a thank you to Grace's special friends who visited her, as well as the staffs of Meadow Wood, Forest Glen, and Good Shepherd Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
