Harvey W. Matuszak, age 84, of Seymour passed away Tuesday morning March 11, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born May 16, 1929 son of the late William and Mary (Sigl) Matuszak.
On April 30, 1955 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Schmit in Isaar.
Harvey was an Air Force Veteran and a member of the Freedom VFW Post 7692.
He was a member of St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, Isaar, where he was active as a choir member, sexton of the cemetery, usher, communion server for both St. Sebastian's and St. Mary's Hospital and served on the council and various committees. Harvey farmed in the Town of Seymour.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis; children: Linda Matuszak, Karen (Duane) Zuleger, Dan (Malia) Matuszak, Chad (Cheryl) Matuszak; 10 grandchildren: Craig (Sara), Stacie (Brad), Amy (Jay), Crissy, Tammy, Dustin (Janelle), Danielle (Cody), Gage, Jordan and Jadin; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: LaVerne Kons, Menasha; Eleanor Zakowski, Howard; Dorothy Kons, Neenah, Norbert (Marlene) Matuszak, Seymour; Alice Vanden Langenberg, Seymour; Ralph (Anna Mae) Matuszak, Oneida; Barbara Socha, Seymour; JoAnn (Bill) Vanden Langenberg, Oneida; Marilyn (Alvin) Socha, Seymour; Ronald Matuszak, Seymour; Deacon Richard (Margie) Matuszak, Seymour; sister-in-law, Carol (Carl) Hock, Bonduel.
Preceded in death by infant granddaughter; brothers: LeRoy (Diane), Donald; sisters: Mary and Joan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Norman Kons, Roger Zakowski, Bernard Kons, Larry Vanden Langenberg, Joseph Socha; infant Shirley; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harline (Grace) Schmit.
Friends may call at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, Isaar on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 3-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and will continue at the church on Saturday, March 15, 2014 from 11 a.m. until the funeral mass at 1:30 p.m. with Fr. Bob Kabat and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. Military Rites will follow by the Freedom VFW Post 7692.
