Harvey August Alvin Schroeder, 81, of Seymour, Harvey was called home by his Loving Savior. He passed away at home with his loving wife and his family by his side on Sunday afternoon, November 27, 2011. He was born June 5, 1930 in Center Valley, son of the late Arthur and Ester (Rholoff) Schroeder.

Harvey was raised on a farm in Seymour. Harvey joined the Air Force in 1952 and fought in the Korean War. After the war he joined the Reserves. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Vande Burgt on April 27, 1957 and raised a family. He worked most of his life doing construction work and building bridges. He worked for Lunda Construction up until he retired in 1991. They ran a tavern in Dale called Betty and Harv's. Harvey was also a life-long member of VFW. He was The Commander for Seymour VFW Post 7692 for 13 years. He was also a life-long member of the American Legion Post 106 and was a member of the Black Creek Lions Club. After retirement he loved to work in his garden and worked around the garage. He also enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harvey shared his stories and jokes with many friends and family members. Harvey also volunteered for The Salvation Army, Outagamie County Service Extension where he helped keep up the maintenance of the building and also went to pick up food and other items.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) of 54 years. He is further survived by his children and their families, Paul (Georgia), Colorado; their children and grandchildren: Dan (Tonja) Himscott, Ryan, Amber, Darby, Emul and Jared Himscott, Scott (Faith) Himscoot, Ester and Titus Himscoot, Lela (Eric) McMallan, Emily and Lily Mc Mallan; Jeff (Mary Beth), Seymour; their children and grandchildren: Travis (Staci) Schroeder; Marissa and Allie Schroeder, Samantha Schroeder, Martin Schroeder (friend Cassandra), Hunter Schroeder; Cindy (Daniel) Meulemans, Seymour; their children and grandchildren: Lee (Jessica) Meulemans, Dylan, Austin, and Kevin Meulemans, Brandy Schmidt (fiance Grant), Devin and Autumn Schmidt, Paige and Brady Krull, Shane Meulemans (Friend Laura), Brooke Meulemans and Whitney Hannon, Jennifer Meulemans, Jalyn and Jameson Meulemans; Nancy (Dennis) Vande Walle, Seymour: and their children and grandchildren: John Vande Walle, Jody Vande Walle (significant other Tyler), Edward Vande Walle and Jake Vande Walle; Tim (Therese) Schroeder and their children: Alison Schroeder (friend Andrew), David Schroeder (friend Mary), Melanie Schroeder (fiance Brandon). He is further survived by his sister Geraldine (James) Ingalls, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Adrian Vande Burgt, Bertha (Howie) Burx, Martin, Jr. (Mary) Vande Burgt, Maire Miller, Theresa Eiting, and Barbra (La Verne) Steinberg; and many nephew and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Martin and Hendricka Vande Burgt; sister, Ione Schroeder, sisters-in-law, Margaret Vande Burgt, Regina Lousisn, Patricia Vande Burgt; a brother-in-law, Jerry Miller.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour on Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 4-8 PM and on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour from 12:00 PM until services at 1:00 PM with Pastor Roland Lindeman and Nick Mattson officiating. A memorial fund has been established for The Salvation Army in Harvey's name.

The family would like to thank Affinity Hospice care who did a great job of taking care of Harvey and especially like to thank Gina who made him feel so special. Also would like to thank the Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home.
