LANGE, HELEN A.
New London
Helen A. Lange, age 92, of New London, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 25, 2007 surrounded by her family, following a brief struggle with cancer.
Helen was the eldest of two daughters born April 18, 1915 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late John and Catherine Heberling. They moved to Detroit, Michigan when Helen was a young girl. In 1934 she married Harold Dickson; together they had four children, Elaine and Harold (twins), Sharon and Diane. Harold passed away in 1944. In 1950 she married Rev. Waldemar Lange, and the family moved to DuPont, Wisconsin. In 1952 they moved to Seymour, where Kathryn was born.
Rev. Lange was pastor at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour with Helen by his side. She was a member of the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school, she sang in the choir and at many weddings and funerals with her beautiful soprano voice. They both had a passion for the outdoors and used to duck hunt and fish for white bass together on the Wolf River. Over the years they acquired land in New London and began raising trout at Wilderness Springs Trout Farm. In 1968 they retired in New London and were able to enjoy many happy years together with family and friends.
Helen's greatest joy was to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For many years she was part of the quilting guild and bible study at Trinity Lutheran Church; and was always available to help out anyone who needed a ride. Helen always said she had numerous jobs but none of them paid anything; her reward would be when she got to heaven. She will be fondly remembered as "the lady with the beautiful hats"!
Helen is survived by her children; Elaine Campbell, Mesa, AZ Harold and Janice Lange, Clarksville, TN; Sharon Jones, Mesa, AZ; Diane and Norman Jahnke, Appleton, WI; and Kathy and Mike Foster, New London, WI. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 12 ½ great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, two nieces and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Catherine Heberling; both of her husbands, Harold Dickson and Rev. W. E. Lange; her sister, Virginia Krause, two sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law.
Celebration of Helen's life will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. The visitation will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Beckert Rd., New London from 3 to 5 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 5 p.m. with Rev. Bill Sutlief and Rev.
