Helen Leisgang

Helen "Babe" Leisgang, 84, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, in her home surrounded by her children. The daughter of the late Paul Sr. and Helen (Pasowicz) Kaczrowski was born October 30, 1936, in Bovina. She spent her early years in Chicago, attended classes in Chicago Catholic Schools and graduated from Seymour Community High School in 1953 at the age of 16. Helen was united in marriage to LaVern Leisgang at St. John Catholic Church on September 1, 1956. They were married for 63 wonderful years before LaVern's passing in 2020.

Helen worked many jobs over the years including at a book store in Chicago, the local newspaper in Seymour, the Hittner Clinic in Seymour and also sold Avon. But her most important job was raising her family. She was a Brownie leader, member of St. John's Christian Mothers, Tuesday & Wednesday Ladies golf leagues, and Senior Couples Golf League. One of her proudest moments on the golf course was when she had a hole-in-one on hole #17 at Crystal Springs Golf Course.

Helen found immense joy in gardening, which included a backyard cornucopia of flowers that many have marveled over. She enjoyed being able to sit in her backyard, seeing all of the beautiful flowers and plants and would show them to anyone who asked. Helen enjoyed attending all of her children and grandchildrens' school and sporting events. She embraced her Polish heritage often speaking in Polish to the delight of her grandchildren. Polka music was often heard echoing off the walls of her house and her toes were tapping to the beat until her last day. Family was everything to her, a trait she passed down to her children.

She is survived by six children: Greg (Pam) Leisgang of Seymour, Elaine Bruecker of Seymour, Ray (Bonnie) Leisgang of Seymour, Eileen Leisgang of Seymour, Alan (Julie) Leisgang of Suamico, and Dean (Kim) Leisgang of Seymour; eleven grandchildren: Jill Leisgang, Angela Martin, Jacquelyn Vore, Amanda Albers, Casey Leisgang, Alex Leisgang, Kevin Leisgang, Marc Leisgang, Emily Schiff, Noah Leisgang, and Riley Leisgang; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters: Dolores Leisgang, Darlene Werner, and Christine (Keith) Mueller; two brothers: Eugene (Joanne) Kaczrowski, and Edwin "George" Kaczrowski; and one brother-in-law, Claude Roskom.

In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Hazel (Reis) Leisgang; one brother, Paul Kaczrowski, Jr.; three brothers-in-law: Ollie Leisgang, Norman Leisgang, and Franklin Leisgang; two sisters-in-law: Bernice Dommer and Gladys Roskom; one nephew, Scott Kaczrowski, and one niece, Dana Werner.

Friends may call at St. John Catholic Church, Seymour, on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 pm with a parish prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the mass at 11:00 am, with Father Sengole Arockia Dass, O. Praem and Deacon Rich Matuszak officiating. Entombment will take place at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
