James R. Baxter, 85, of Black Creek passed away at home with his family on Friday, March 17, 2023. He was born on October 28, 1937 to the late Almond and Dorothy (Miller) Baxter.
On September 18, 1959 he was united in marriage to Arlene Brandt. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2021.
He spent his entire career working at Neenah Papers until his retirement.
Jim was a faithful and active member of Seymour Assembly of God Church. He loved working with his hands, passionately creating things as he served at Spencer Lake for many years and helping others when they were in need.
He enjoyed all the time spent on Depot Street as a founding member of the Seymour Model Railroad Club.
Jim is survived by his children: Cindy (Bruce) Wellhoefer, Mark (Lauren) Baxter, Steve (Tina) Baxter, Rob (Katie) Baxter, Perry (Betsy) Baxter, and Danny (Crystal) Baxter; 23 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings: Marie Nowell, David Baxter, Ernest Baxter, Donald Baxter, and Randy Baxter; two sisters-in-law: Vickie Brandt and Carol Brandt.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Baxter; and sister, Beverly Marcks.
Visitation for Jim will take place at Seymour Assembly of God Church, Seymour, on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 9:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Phil Engle officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Seymour City Cemetery. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
