James D. Hillsberg, 80, of Larsen passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 9, 2017 at Emerald Ridge
Assisted Living with his sister Pat by his side.
He was born April 26, 1937, son of the late Wilton and Vivian (Creighton) Hillsberg.
On February 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Laverne Suprise at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton.
James served in the US Air Force.
James enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, playing cards, trap shooting, Packer games, gardening, and mowing his lawn. He had been a member of the Drifters snowmobile club in Larsen for many years.
The most important thing to him was time spent with his family. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and brother.
He is survived by four children: Helen Peterman, Fremont; Donald Hillsberg, Larsen; David Hillsberg, Wild Rose; and Bonnie (Steve) La Dow, Fr
emont; grandchildren: Mandi (Grant) Goodness, Molly Peterman, Brianna Hillsberg; three great-grandchildren: Addison, Macy, and Jace; two step-grandchildren: Scott and Shannon La Dow; sister, Pat Frost, Neenah; sisters-in-law: Beverly Hillsberg, Linda Surprise, Shiocton; Janice (Art) VanAsten, Wild Rose; Gail (William) Spoehr, Kaukauna; Gloria Riehl, Binghamton; Doris (William) Herminath, Shiocton; Carol (Wayne) Fischer, Sherwood; Regina (Philip) Zuleger, Appleton; and Sheryl (Art) Schuh, Superior.
He was a warm and loving uncle to all the nieces and nephews in the family.
James was preceded in death by his brothers: Eugene (Arlene) Hillsberg, Jerry Hillsberg, and Duane Hillsberg; brothers-in-law: LeRoy Frost, Ronald (Kay) Suprise, Les Riehl, and Raymond Surprise; mother-in-law and father-in-law; Lucille and David Surprise.
Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, from 12 noon until services at 2:00 pm with Pastor Phil Engle officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
A memorial fund has been established in James memory.
