James B. Hodkiewicz, age 95, returned to the arms of the Lord and his beloved wife Anna Marie Wednesday morning, March 17, 2010 at Meadow Wood Assisted Living in Seymour. He was born July 24, 1914 to the late Stanley and Jennie (Wojcinski) Hodkiewicz.
On November 4, 1941, he was united in marriage to Marie Simons in Vans Valley. She preceded him in death on September 5, 2003.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Seymour. James, a quality cheesemaker for over 40 years. He and his wife Marie's, labor of love started humbly as they lived in one half of their garage for the first five years of marriage. Through the ongoing fruits of their efforts their cheese factory was profitable, and their reputation as proud producers grew, the investments were solid and their new housing welcomed five children: Gary, Dale, Tim, James Jake, and Mary Terez.
James was a member of the Northeastern Wisconsin Cheese Maker's Association and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved golfing with his beloved partner in life and was a member and a stockholder at Crystal Springs Golf Course since 1966.
James enjoyed over ten trips out west and spent 12 years as a "Snow Bird" in Gulf Shores, Alabama. His love of play sheepshead and especially cribbage made for a lot of quality time with family.
He is survived by his children: Gary (Amy) Hodkiewicz, Shawano; Dale (Donna) Hodkiewicz, Shawano; Tim (Lorie) Hodkiewicz, Adams-Friendship; Jake (Jill) Hodkiewicz, Seymour; Mary Terez (Pat) Shulze, Seymour; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Evelyn, Emily, Renee, Barbara and Virgie; special neighbors and friends, Rich and Bev Mueller.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Martin "Marty" Hodkiewicz, brothers: John, Edward, Daniel, Alvin and Phil; sisters: Frances, Anna and Irene.
Friends may call at St. John's Catholic Church, Seymour on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 4 PM until 8 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 20, 2010 9 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 10: 30 AM with Father Bob Kabat officiating. Burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Vans Valley, WI.
