James "Jim" La Count, age 82, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 15, 2023. Jim was born on October 21, 1941 to the late Irene and George La Count.
He was united in marriage to Linda Lawler on September 15, 1962, and they shared over 60 years together before her death on March 12, 2023.
Jim worked in roofing, heating and air-conditioning his whole life. He had worked for Blindauer's and Christy Supply in Green Bay before moving to Seymour in 1972 to start his own business, Jim's Sheet Metal and Roofing. He then worked for Chilton Globe for a few years before moving on to Coonen's Heating and Diedrick's Heating and Air Conditioning until his retirement in 2003. He probably has fixed or installed most of the furnaces and air-conditioners in Seymour. He was a master at his craft.
Jim also enjoyed farming and horses and loved being outside. He was always busy doing something before COPD slowed him down. He enjoyed a good night playing sheepshead, listening to polkas, and no one could beat him at checkers. He was into word search puzzles too. He definitely had a schedule and did not miss Polka Joe or Mollie B on RFD TV. Jim also had to watch the news and weather and had his weather station to refer to as well. And of course we will mention the polka dotted hats- he wasn't recognized if he wasn't wearing one.
Jim is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law: Joanne (Tom) Loeffler, and Karen (John) Schoen. He is further survived by his granddaughter Emily Schoen who he absolutely adored; his Godson, Tim La Count; sister, Carol Wojciehowski; brothers: Eugene (Pam) La Count, Lawrence La Count, Daniel La Count; and sister-in-law, Kay La Count.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers: Wayne La Count, Bill (Joyce) La Count, Donald La Count, Richard La Count; sisters: Nancy (Lester) Ness, Arlene La Count; and brother-in-law, Bud Wojciehowski.
Funeral services for Jim will be held at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main Street, Seymour on Thursday December 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ty Stoneburner officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until time of services. Private entombment at the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
