James G. Shepard, age 79, of Shiocton, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born January 26, 1935 to the late John and Alice (Allen) Shepard. On October 15, 1960 he was united in marriage to Mary Wickesberg at the United Methodist Church in Black Creek.
James grew up on the family farm and started working at age of 16 for the rendering plant. He then was employed with Murphy's of Black Creek as a truck driver. He later was employed with Service Bakery and in 1963 began his career in construction. James was a proud member of Labor Union #330 for 50 years. He worked for CR Meyer Construction and Doering's Super Valu in Appleton. He was devoted to Mary, the love of his life, his Tweety. He loved his family, helping his children and grandchildren with everything. He enjoyed his hobby farm, hunting, and a little fishing.
James was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children: Jim (Jane) Shepard, Pearson; Dawn Deltour, Appleton; Steve (Kerry) Shepard, Pulaski; Karen Marx, New London; Lori (Miguel) Nieves, Shiocton; Georgieanna King, Green Bay; Angie Shepard (Todd Pionek), Weyauwega; grandchildren: Katie Kriewaldt, New London; Jacob (Athena) Shepard, Greenleaf; Jesse Shepard (special friend Anna Depner), Shiocton; Mariah, David M.II and Sarah Deltour all of Appleton; Melissa (Peter) Witterholt, Black Creek; Joshua Shepard, Seymour; Tyler Shepard, Pulaski; Tanner Shepard, Pulaski; Quinton Shepard, Pulaski; Mary Wagner, Seymour; Ryan Guerin, Idaho; Elizabeth Guerin, New London; Kayla Guerin (special friend Peter Gabrielson), New London; Kody (Keeli) Guerin, Colorado; Ashley (Andrew) Slaets, Shiocton; Brittany (Trevor) Riehl, New London; Cassandra (Tobias) Collins, Shiocton; 21 great-grandchildren, with the 22nd on the way; brothers: Earl Shepard, Lyle (Pat) Shepard; sisters-in-law: Donna Shepard, Betty Wickesberg; brother-in-law Wilber (Betty) Beyer; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Stephen Scheffel; brothers and sisters: John (Caroline) Shepard; Harold (Doris) Shepard; Darlene (Everett) Dieck; Ralph Shepard; Merton Shepard; Lelah (Walter) Noffke; and an infant sister; sister-in-law, JoAnn Shepard. He is further preceded by Mary's parents, Mabel and Walter Wickesberg; and her brothers and sisters: Dallas (Lela) Wickesberg; Milton (Eleanor) Wickesberg; Vernon VanLanen; Walter Wickesberg, Jr.; Violet Wickesberg; Vivian Wickesberg; Gladys Beyer; Marjorie Wickesberg; Richard Wickesberg.
Friends may call on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Trinity United Church of Christ, W6712 Cty. Rd. F, Shiocton (Leeman) from 1 p.m. until services at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Moira Finley officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at

Jim will be remembered by the twinkling of his blue eyes and his big smile which brought much joy to everyone he met.
