James "Jim" L. Braun, age 84, passed away December 30, 2018, at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Center Seymour. He was born September 1, 1934 in Seymour, son of the late Otto and Lucille (Loewenhagen) Braun.
On November 24, 1956 he was united in marriage to Janice Baehler at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. Janice preceded him in death in 2008. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
He spent his working years in the transportation industry driving truck for Westerfield Oil, North Osborn Cheese, and Coonen Inc. Throughout the years, he also drove tour bus for Huettl Tours a career he started by driving the youth of Emmanuel to national youth gatherings. He really enjoyed being a tour bus driver seeing many beautiful places throughout the country and all the wonderful people he met.
His biggest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially following their activities. He enjoyed the family camping trips and gatherings on Pearl street.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was a lifetime member of the City of Seymour Fire Department starting his service in July 1965.
Survivors include his children: Jeffrey Braun (special friend Karen Braun), Pulaski; Jonathan (Jodi) Braun, Seymour; Julie Braun, Seymour; Joseph (Barbara) Braun, Green Bay; grandchildren Kelly (James) Johnson, Andrew Braun, Benjamin (Kimberly) Braun, Jacklyn (Adam) Hill, Kathlyn (Brigham) Bramschreiber; step-grandchildren Heath Kelly, Jake (Jaime) Kelly, Sarah Grossman; great-grandchildren Jaelyn and Easton Hill, Frederick Johnson, step great-grandchildren Samantha and McKenna Grossman, Josephine, Jasmine, and Jacob Kelly. Also surviving is one sister Beatrice (Braun) Phillips and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gerald (Elaine) Braun. Brothers-in-law Robert (Agnes) Baehler and Gerald (Marlene) Baehler.

Visitation for James will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour on Thursday, January 3, 2019, from 4-8 pm and will continue from 9:30-11:00 am on Friday, January 4, 2019, with funeral to be held at 11:00 am with Pastor Natalie Kramer officiating. Burial will take place at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
