Janiece (Jan Bast) Hein, 91, Town of Black Creek passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025, with her family by her side.
She was born in the Town of Center on August 13, 1933, to John and Ella (Timmers) Bast. There, she grew up as her father owned a cheese factory and, later, a farm. Janiece "Niecie" attended Industrial Hollow grade school. After, she attended Seymour High School, where she would meet her husband to be, Victor. Following high school, she was employed at the Institute of Paper Chemistry as a Lab Assistant. In August of 1954 she married her best friend, Victor Hein, of Seymour and the couple celebrated over 70 years of marriage. After Vic's two years of military service, 10 years living in Appleton and four children later, they purchased a farm in the Town of Center where they promptly had another child, and continued farming until 2003. She was employed for 23 years in the lab at Alto Dairy, formerly Outagamie Producers Co-op in Black Creek, until her retirement.
She was a devoted member of St Edward's Catholic Church in Mackville where she was baptized and had received the sacraments of First Communion, Confirmation and Marriage. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 106 of Seymour and a member of HCE (Home, Community, and Education Association) with the Country Apples Unit. Jan was always happy when Vic and their family were around, when there was a wedding, when a baby was born, when the sun was rising or setting and when someone passing by would stop and visit on the porch for a while.
She is survived by her husband, Vic, daughters: Becky (Jon) Stellmacher, Laurie (Gregg) Palubicki, and Ginny Rottier; sons: Vince "Chuck" (Dorothy Ossman) Hein and Joe (Beth Seiltz) Hein; sister, Mary (Hank) Van Den Bosch; brother, Jack (Jeno) Bast; sister-in-law, Patricia Streur; and many beloved godchildren, nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren: Josh (Michele) Hein, Adam (Diana) Hein, Jim (Susan) Stellmacher, Paul (Heather Underkofler) Stellmacher, Abby (Anthony) Meehl, Stephan Palubicki, Lyssa (Shane) Van De Hei, Miranda (Jake Linsmeyer) Rottier, Anthony (Jessica) Rottier, Jessica (special friend, Matt Stedl) Rottier, Sami (Dylan) Baumgarten, Devin (Paige) Hein, Kaitlyn (Sean) Palubicki, and Paige Hein.
Twenty-three great-grandchildren also survive: Damian, Alexander, Ava and Savannah Hein; Vincent, Landen and Grayden Hein; Aurelia Stellmacher; Micah and Mackenzie Meehl; Luke and Jack Stellmacher; Sydney, Ray and Kaycee Van De Hei; Hadley, Hensley and Hixlyn Rottier-Linsmeyer; Lincoln and Ella Rottier; Briggs Hein; Stetson Palubicki; and Lucas Baumgarten; with two more on the way.
