Joan M. Prothero, 78, Seymour, passed away Thursday evening, November 28, 2019. The daughter of Acel and Phyllis (Watts) Card was born December 28, 1940, in Eau Claire. On November 3, 1959, she married Miles G. Prothero, and they raised seven children. Miles preceded Joan in death on December 6, 1992.
Joan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oneida. She worked at various assisted living facilities for many years. Joan also enjoyed volunteering at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, and was proud to be her sister's caretaker for 31 years. Joan enjoyed helping with church activities and was always willing to help anybody in need. She especially loved spending time with her family and nobody ever left hungry.
Survivors include her children: Randy (Darnelle) Prothero, Hawaii; Nancy Jimenez, Appleton; Rick (Donna) Prothero, Seymour; Terry Prothero, Appleton; Vicky Brice, Buffalo Grove, IL; Jani Fuller, Oakfield; and Joni Prothero, Marinette; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two on the way; one sister, Vickie Card, Seymour, one brother, James Card, Sr. (Judy Borgwardt), Greenville; one sister-in-law, Rosemarie Card, Menasha; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Card, Sr.
Friends are invited to gather at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, 358 S. Main Street, Seymour, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 5, 2019, Bishop Nicolas Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Seymour City Cemetery.
